Patrick and Amber met in Thailand on a mission trip (I mean, how romantic, yeah??), but this is actually not where there love story began. According to Amber, the two didn’t really even interact much with each other the entire time they were there. I think it’s safe to say that the love bug didn’t bite until well after they returned to the States. Patrick moved to Lubbock from Alabama in order to go deeper with his endeavors in Thailand. The two became friends before admitting their feelings for each other, and on December 2nd, 2016, Patrick proposed at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum.
I asked the two what they love about each other before we got started with the photo session, and I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever heard anything sweeter. Their love for each other is precious, pure, and genuine. What I liked the most was that each of them mentioned their love for the other’s “servant heart”. They love serving others, just as Jesus did, and it is ultimately what brought the two of them together. This trait will serve them well in their relationship with Jesus, their relationship with each other, and in life!
They are getting married in Ransom Canyon (my fave), so naturally we had to take their engagement photos out there. I love when clients bring something meaningful with them to their sessions…and Patrick and Amber brought along one of their favorite board games to represent their competitiveness! Amber also brought a letter that Patrick wrote to her before proposing [insert fainting swoon]. I’m a sucker for a good love letter. They were so natural with each other that I hardly had to pose them. (Side note, candid shots are my favorite anyway!) It is so apparent that their love for Jesus shines through their love for each other, and I’m so excited for their big day when they get to officially start their new life together!
Amber and Patrick, I hope this new adventure together gets better each and every day. Your joy is contagious, and I know so many great blessings are in store for you. Enjoy this sweet season of engagement, you guys are going to have so much fun being married! Cheers to many more decades of love and happiness!
